summertime

(sadness)

By Sara Published 10 months ago โ€ข 1 min read

it can never be the same

your fingers

feel different

on my translucent skin,

the wind still sings

but i hear it howl

the air is thick

with sticky lies

and i wade through it

like a dazed nightmare

can i wake up?

i have seen what

the drugs do to you

glinting eyes, gritting teeth

and i do them anyway,

look away

from the mirror

i am scared because

people feel too much

and they also feel too little

i do not know which is worse

me, i cannot stop feeling

turn it off. turn it OFF.

we have waited for the

sun

in the window

during the cold nights

she is here now

but i forgot that

she burns

like a merciless flame

licking my wounds

the world is burning

inside of me

and outside of me

heartbreak

You've captured the overwhelming emotions in such a powerful way. I especially love the part about waiting for the sun, only to get burned. Thanks for sharing.
