Swirl

By N J Delmas

By N J DelmasPublished 14 days ago 1 min read

Swirl in a teacup,

spin round and round.

Leaves in a saucer,

earthly bound.

Broom to the forehead

eyes to the ground.

Eyes to the heavens

spin round and round.

Dance in the moonlight

Weave in and out.

Arms locked with a stranger but all as one,

Through the blue bells until it’s done.

Knots in wool.

Braides in hair.

Ravel the wool to bind you there.

Under the stars of a storm-filled sky,

Twisting and turning as witches fly.

For Fun

The imagery of knots and braids really makes me think about how connections form and tighten over time. It feels like relationships can both bind and trap us, depending on how they evolve. There’s a quiet heaviness in that, like not all connections are easy to undo.

  • This felt like a nursery rhyme and it had a magical touch to it. So brilliantly done!

  • This is magically wonderful ✨ effectively portraying ordinary tasks from a light that elicits gratefulness rather than mundane, with a dash of ethereal fantasy ♥️
