The Edge Of Letting Go
I theory it’s easy. In reality it’s harder

The Edge Of Letting Go
There comes a point where holding on,
Becomes far heavier than release,
Where what you cling to out of fear,
No longer brings you any peace.
You stand there at the edge of choice,
Between the known and what could be,
Afraid of what you might be losing,
Yet longing to be free.
Letting go is not a failure,
It is not the end of worth,
It is the quiet recognition,
Of what no longer gives you birth.
There are things that must be loosened,
Even if they shaped your past,
Not everything is meant to follow,
Not everything is built to last.
The fear will speak in steady whispers,
Telling you to stay, to remain,
But truth will stand a little deeper,
Calling you beyond the pain.
You cannot grow while holding tightly,
To what is pulling you behind,
There is a future waiting forward,
But you must choose to leave to find.
The edge is not a place of ending,
Though it feels like something lost,
It is the place where you decide now,
What is worth the coming cost.
And when you finally release it,
What you feared to set apart,
You will feel a space within you,
Opening inside your heart.
Not empty, but alive with promise,
With something waiting to begin,
A life not shaped by what you carried,
But by what you step within.
Letting go is not destruction,
It is a quiet act of grace,
It is choosing something deeper,
Than what you had to face.

This is one of your all-time best poems, Marie. So full of realisations that we all should note and wrapped up in your usual eloquent rhyme. Lovely.
