'Elbows up!' me hearties. Top Story - May 2025.
I’m not a born Canadian, but have long been a citizen. I’ve never fully adopted all things Canadian as I’ve kept very much in touch with, and often visit, my home of origin. The most Canadian I’ve ever felt for all these years has been when I’m in another country and everyone assumes I’m American. Now, there’s absolutely nothing at all wrong with being American, but it kind of rankles with many who go to great lengths to ensure a red maple leaf, or the Canadian flag, is somewhere on their person or luggage.

Calculating how much more she’d miss if sleep didn’t arrive soon made her anxious. And anxiety always robbed her of sleep.

Did I tell you this already?. Top Story - April 2025.
I’m out of ideas. Except for this idea, I guess, to write about it. It sobers one when the mind goes its merry way, never bothering to take stock of current inventory so as it can provide hints and subject matter as required in functioning society.

Like a house on fire
The fireplace had breathed its last in the wee hours of that morning. Powdery grey ash now lounged where hot flames had sprung to life only hours before. It was Sam's job to clean it out every morning, and he hated doing it. But Jill had said he didn't do enough around the house, and she had been really angry about that this time.
