Stuff…

Say it Plainly challenge

Stuff!

We want it…

We need it…

Us Aussies are no different.

*

But…

Do we ever really

have enough

Stuff?

*

We have oodles of food

Delicious, healthy and good

Too often we stock up, just in case

Then forget, let it rot, go to waste.

*

The wardrobe’s full of clothes… varied colours and styles

Plus there’s appliances, games and books heaped in piles.

We acquire a fancy new couch made of leather

Then need to rub lanolin in for good measure.

*

We buy a racy red car

Drive it fast and travel far

We book services to make it last

But alas, fuel prices go up fast.

*

Everything has a price

Not just to buy in a thrice

But to use, maintain and store

Owning stuff can be stressful, for sure.

*

I reflect on the lifestyle we lead

Away down here in my country!

Safe, secure, free… living as we please

Unlike some poor hapless souls overseas.

*

How much Stuff do we really need?

Are we just succumbing to greed?

Can we blame ignorance?

Or maybe plain indifference?

*

Very good!! With parents who lived through the depression, and then those kids who lived with their parents, it is tough to toss. The Salvation army is my favorite place to donate to right now. My kids didn't pick up the keeping stuff! When I die, I see them moving in a dumpster and tossing my stuff. They don't want it! Especially my son. My daughter wants a few things and I'm trying to give them to her while I'm still living.😉💕💗

I was only thinking the same thing this morning on my walk, Angie. How much stuff is enough? I am gradually getting rid of a whole lot of stuff I have been hoarding and hanging on to. It is a painful process, but it needs to be done.

You've really made me stop and think. I really do have too much stuff!

  • Sure does seem like greed to me. And ignorance. Loved your take on this challenge!
