Introduction I joined the Canadian Armed Forces (it was known as the Canadian Forces back then) when I was seventeen years old. I left home immediately after high school graduation, almost nineteen years ago. Now I am a Major in the Royal Canadian Air Force. While my career so far has been fulfilling and exciting, it's fair to say that I did not have the greatest start.

The Deepest Love...
My paternal grandfather, C. A. Baltimore, was amongst the elite class of forefront Belgian deep-sea divers in the early 1920s. A World War I Commercial Naval Diver that was trained in military bomb disposal. Otherwise known as an Ammunition Technician with core knowledge on how to safely neutralize munition planted deep within the sea beds often aimed to obliterate submarines and naval fleet. Though fascinated with such an underwater odyssey, it’s a running family rumor that he refused to wear the outlandishly heavy standard diving dress that was customary in that era, if he could avoid the custom. As much as he enjoyed the demands of his underwater duties with the Navy…he always had his heart set on being a free diver. He had awesome lung capacity and could hold his breath for up to 30 minutes without underwater apparatus while diving as deep as 150 feet in some of the coldest waters and that was his claim to fame.

1MAR2021; 1920, MON It's been a New York minute since my last post in the designated military community of this site, and like the living legend NaS (sic) said on "N.Y. State of Mind", off of his debut album from '94, "It's time...I don't know how to start this s**t" tho." I was the designated radio guy for my platoon for a hot minute and I suppose that that's as decent as any intro to a fairly random piece.

Miniature Giant
--February of 2015 With thoughts of my grandfather, I stood in the room of a place that was the equivalent of the Versailles for the elderly. I looked into the faces of generations of experiences, and instantly felt outclassed. Like a clumsy librarian tasked to oversee an archive bigger than herself. All there was to me was my notebook and an honest curiosity. I hoped that was enough. The Aegis assistant and my professor paired us off to begin the interviews. Where after introducing each resident, we would raise our hands for the individual who interested us.
